Its househol slogana acts as “a paradise to run from the mountains to the sea“. The event has over the years become one of the sporting events of international promotion of the territory of Ogliastra. In fact, last June the Sardinia Trail was a guest of the Scenic Trail in Switzerland and was present at the “Lavaredo Ultra-Trail Expo”, with a stand in the obligatory route where all the participating athletes and the attendants – around 12 thousand people – have passed.
The Sardinia Trail maintains its race characteristics with a distance of about 100 km to run in three stages with 4000 meters of ascent, with redesigned routes to offer you new striking landscapes and a greater number of km of single-track.
There are three fantastic routes, designed not only for the numerous trail enthusiasts – used to travelling extreme distances – but also for all those who are attracted by an alternative holiday of sport and relaxation, between the deep and green forests and a fabulous sea of an island still wild and unspoiled.
In 2019 on Sardinia Trail days there will be a big news: a non-competitive walk of about 4/5 km will be organized for each day in the territory of Ogliastra. Honorable guests, the walkers of the Sentieri di Libertà (the mountain therapy project devised by Dr. Coni of the Mental Health Center of Sanluri), will be led by Dr. Mariella Zoncheddu from the Lanusei ASL, who has been following the project since its inception. “The delegation of the routes of freedom” – explains Dr. Zoncheddu – has been welcomed and pampered by the Sardinia Trail caravan in the 2018 edition and we are pleased to participate in the 2019 walk project”.
The Sardinia Trail is in fact also a unique and unrepeatable opportunity to visit the island: thanks to this event you will discover its most hidden corners: an emotion that only Sardinia, with its folklore, its gastronomy and the warmth of the its people can make you live.
ROUTES:
Sardinia Trail:
100 km, to be run in 3 stages in three days, with 4,000 meters of ascent, crossing the Supramonte of Urzulei, the Gennargentu massif (stop at Punta La Marmora), until the beaches of Tertenia and Cardedu with the transition to Monte Ferru at 800 meters above sea level.
LOCATION:
Confirmed the operational headquarters in Tortolì-Arbatax with logistical base in the enchanting Hotel Club Saraceno, 50 meters from the long stretch of sand directly accessible from the hotel, in the enchanting San Gemiliano Bay in Arbatax, ideal for combining sport and relaxation.
The beach, about 2 km long, is overlooked on the north side by the Saracen Tower of “Taratasciàr” (“thirteenth tower” in Arabic), a long stretch of medium-weight sand with a gently sloping seabed.
Along the beach, equipped with umbrellas and deck chairs (free available to participants), you can relax and enjoy the Mediterranean sun, sail in the beautiful waters of the bay or ride the waves with the surf.
